Enabling SSO with Entra ID Integration

Backrightup now enables full SSO with Entra ID (and Okta). In addition your Global Entra ID administrator can enable central user management within Entra ID instead of within Backrightup.

SSO setup

The following steps will need to be performed by your Global Entra ID administrator.

Navigate to the register page. Click on Log in
Click on the Microsoft (SSO) button

Click on "Start onboarding process".

Click on "Onboard my tenant". A reminder this must be done by a Global Entra ID Tenant Admin. Please also make sure you provide an domain name (eg. backrightup, com) that is reflective of your administrator email address, as well as your end users.

Choose your user and accept the permissions

The platform may take you back to the sign in page. Simply click the "Microsoft SSO" again:

IMPORTANT: Please tick the "Consent on behalf of your organisation" checkbox

Make sure you log into the Backrightup platform as a user before adding other users. You will need to setup your account if you have not done so previously including connecting to GitHub/Azure DevOps

Restricting all members to use SSO only

Navigate to the Team settings page. Please add the domain that your company users use. This will restrict all users to use SSO login for this domain

Managing users within the Entra ID application (optional) (Global Entra ID Admin only)

To manage users and access to the Backrightup application, you can enable user assignment within Micrsoft Entra ID. First navigate to Entra ID application

Follow the steps detailed here to enable "Assignment required"

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity-platform/howto-restrict-your-app-to-a-set-of-users#update-the-app-to-require-user-assignment

Now add the users you wish to have Backrightup access under the "Users" area
